Inclusion at St Andrew’s School

Our Inclusion Manager is Laura Kendall. She can be contacted through the school office and will respond as soon as possible.

“At St Andrew’s we strive to identify and cater for the special educational needs of both those children with learning difficulties and the more able. We believe early intervention is crucial and aim to identify such needs as early as possible. Parents are key in ensuring positive outcomes for their children and they are kept informed through regular meetings and discussion between class teachers, the Inclusion Manager and the parents themselves. Sometimes we need to seek advice and support from outside agencies and the School has very close contacts with many different agencies including the Solihull Inclusion Support Service, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists. The Inclusion Manager works closely with Mrs Brady, our own Family Support Worker and Mentor, in supporting children and families in school who have children with SEND or who need some additional support.

We believe that educational inclusion is about meeting the needs of all learners, whatever their age, gender, ethnicity, impairment, attainment and background. We pay particular attention to the provision for and the achievement of different groups of learners whose educational progress may be vulnerable

Our SEND policy describes the way we meet the needs of children who experience barriers to their learning, which may relate to sensory or physical impairment, learning difficulties or emotional or social development, or may relate to factors in their environment, including the learning environment they experience in school.
